As a B2B partner, the company develops and produces ingredients that specifically enhance the taste, color, texture, and nutritional value of products. Döhler is a global company with 7,500 employees and customers in over 130 countries.
Döhler has set itself the goal of being a digital leader in the food industry. To achieve this, they have placed a strong focus on the digitalization and automation of their business processes. For their project to implement a global role model, Döhler GmbH received the Process Solution Award 2021 . The focus was on process-oriented digitalization through the integration of HR and BPM via Aeneis and SAP.
Döhler pursued the clear corporate goalof driving the digitalization and automation of processes and positioning itself as a digitally leading company in the food industry . This required greater transparency, a uniform description of all processes, and the resulting standardization. It was precisely at this point that it became clear that a consistent global role concept is a necessary prerequisite.
Roles should not only be defined consistently, but also be usable for multiple purposes. This includes process accountability, operational responsibility within processes, and the respective departmental permissions. The role concept therefore had to integrate HR data, process perspectives, and IT permissions into a cohesive model. The goal was a globally standardized role concept with company-wide uniform job profiles and an automated derivation of permissions in Aeneis.
Aeneis was used to introduce a central platform that links organizational structure with process organization. Roles are maintained in SAP HR, assigned to positions, and then synchronized daily with Aeneis. There, organizational units, positions, employees, and job profiles are automatically merged, visualized, and made available for process documentation.
All processes are documented in Aeneis at multiple levels, from the process map to the BPMN diagram. The defined roles appear directly in the swimlanes and make responsibilities for tasks and processes transparent. Employees can thereby view their roles, processes, and tasks directly. At the same time, organizational charts can be generated automatically, job profiles enriched, and roles systematically analyzed.
A particular advantage of the software implementation was in permission management. Aeneis automatically links employees with users and assigns them to the appropriate groups based on their job profile and location. This allows permissions to be standardized and assigned with significantly less manual effort.
The introduction of Aeneis brought Döhler clear professional and organizational benefits. First, it established a consistent understanding of roles, making processes and responsibilities globally comparable. In addition, it created transparency at the process and task level . Employees have a better understanding of which tasks are associated with their roles and how these fit into the company's process landscape.
The new role concept simplified HR processes, as roles are used on a unified data basis from job postings to compensation management. Furthermore, in IT, the setup of user system permissions was greatly simplified, as the role pool can also be utilized here and standard permissions can be predefined.
